We Did It! Begich Outraises Stevens!

I have incredible news to report. In the 2nd quarter of 2008 – the first time frame where Mark has been a candidate for US Senate – we outraised Sen. Stevens by over a quarter of a million dollars. The totals:

Ted Stevens: $745,000
Mark Begich: $1,034,600

We did this by having over 4,000 donors, 74% of whom gave under $100 (by contrast Stevens had only 900 donors). It truly was a grassroots storm that carried us ahead of Stevens. Speaking on behalf of everyone at Team Begich: Thank you for your support!

But keep in mind, Stevens has been fundraising for this raise since 2003 and retains an overall cash advantage, thanks to his ability to turn to special interest friends and lobbyists he's been working with for 40 years. We still need your support, we still need to keep rolling, and the path to victory is going to be a hard one.

The strength of our grassroots support shows not only that Mark can win this November, but there exists a strong desire across Alaska to ensure that he is representing Alaska in the US Senate come January, 2009.
